Since this machine was made prior to the Expo and 1939 it probably sat in the factory for a few months before it went to the commemoration of the San Francisco Golden Gate Exposition in 1939.  These machines are very scarce and are hard to find in beautiful condition.  This 1939 Golden gate was purchased by Miss Virginia Dee Sharp of Colorado.  It was purchased on October 7th of 1939 using the Singer installment plan, and Miss Sharp saved every receipt for each payment she made.  There is also a letter from Singer
